Dave Reyes joined Maloney + Novotny LLC in 1986 and became shareholder in our Tax Consulting Services Group in 2000. He specializes in the areas of employee benefit plans and tax-exempt organizations. Dave is a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) and consults with clients in all aspects of their employee benefit plans. Dave works closely with the firm’s Employee Benefits Group who specializes in the audits of large retirement plans. Dave consults on tax issues related to these plans.

From 1983 to 1986, Dave worked for the Employee Plans/Exempt Organizations Division of the Internal Revenue Service. His responsibilities included review and analysis of qualified retirement plans, field audit assignments, and issuance of IRS determination letters. Dave has been involved in assisting clients in all aspects of their employee benefit plans including qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, and cafeteria plans. His extensive experience includes qualification, compliance, planning opportunities and IRS and Department of Labor examinations.

Dave works closely with the firm’s not-for-profit practice dealing with 990 filing and tax issues. Consequently, Dave has a significant amount of experience with retirement plans specific to not-for-profits, such as 403(b) and 457 plans. In addition, Dave devotes a potion of his practice to individual tax and tax returns of trusts and estates.

Dave is a member of the Ohio Society of CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs, WEB (Worldwide Employee Benefits Network) and the ESOP Association. A 1982 graduate of the University of Akron with a degree in Accounting, Dave received a Master’s Degree in Taxation from the University of Akron in 1983. He is past-treasurer of Cleveland Chapter of The American Liver Foundation and is currently a member of the Advisory Board for the George W. Daverio School of Accountancy at the University of Akron.
